Nearly one in every five people in the UK has a disability or impairment, and over half of households have a connection to someone with a disability. Purple Tuesday is the UK’s first accessible shopping day, established to recognise the importance and needs of disabled consumers, raise awareness of the value of the Purple Pound, and promote inclusive shopping.
We have some exciting activities planned here at Highcross Leicester, so come along and join us for Purple Tuesday on Tuesday 13th November, 9:30am-5:30pm.
Our main hub of activity will be on the Lower Mall, outside Debenhams where a number of organisations will be available to offer advice and support.
These include Leicester Centre for integrated Living (LCiL), Get YourSelf Active, Dementia Action Alliance (LDAA), Time to Change, Vista, Menphy's, CLASP, Age UK, ShopMobility and Showcase Cinema de Lux.
Vista will also be offering free eye screenings throughout the day.
There will even be a special performance by FTM Dance and The Beacons and John Lewis & Partners will be lit up in Purple in support.
We looking forward to seeing you on Purple Tuesday!
