Light Up Leicester

Get ready for an unforgettable spectacle as Light Up Leicester returns to illuminate the city! From Wednesday 12th March to Saturday 15th March, experience four nights of breathtaking light installations, joyful parades, mesmerizing performances, and exciting interactive experiences—all for free!

Festival Highlights

Wednesday 12th March

11AM – 12PM: LUL Schools Opening Parade – Watch the city’s young artists bring their creativity to life as a vibrant parade, led by Inspirate and Drum and Brass, marches from the Cathedral to Clocktower and back. Their artwork forms the stunning ‘Roots of Our Tree’ light installation at the KRIII Visitor Centre.

6PM: Radiant Routes Evening Parade – A high-energy dance parade led by Nupur Arts, featuring a unique fusion of Brazilian beats and Bhangra with Sambando!

6.30PM: Cathedral, Crown & Culture – Be the first to witness an awe-inspiring projection mapping show by Metro Boulot Dodo on Leicester Cathedral, celebrating the city’s history and King Richard III. Continues nightly throughout the festival.

Thursday 13th March

6.30 – 8.30PM: Illuminated Bike Parade – Decorate your bike with LED lights and stickers and take part in a glowing ride around the city centre! Register at www.lightupleicester.com.

Friday 14th March

6.30PM & 7.30PM: The Holi Experience at the Clocktower – Celebrate the festival of colours with energetic dance performances by Nupur Arts.

Saturday 15th March

7.00 – 8.00PM: Fiers à Cheval by Compagnie des Quidams – Marvel at towering, glowing 4-metre-high inflatable horses as they gracefully make their way down New Walk, culminating in a magical choreographed performance at The Circle outside Mattioli Woods.
